O little town of Bethlehem, Hymnal 79
O little town of Bethlehem,
how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
the silent stars go by;
yet in the dark streets shineth
the everlasting Light;
the hopes and fears of all the years
are met in thee tonight.
Once in royal David’s city, Hymnal 102
Once in royal David’s city
stood a lowly cattle shed,
where a mother laid her baby
in a manger for his bed:
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ her little child.
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, Hymnal 101
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay,
the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.
While shepherds watched their flocks by night, Hymnal 94
While shepherds watched their flocks by night,
all seated on the ground,
the angel of the Lord came down,
and glory shone around.
We three kings of Orient are, Hymnal 128
We three kings of Orient are,
bearing gifts we traverse afar,
field and fountain, moor and mountain,
following yonder star.
O star of wonder, star of night,
star with royal beauty bright:
westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to thy perfect light!
Silent night, holy night, Hymnal 111
Silent night, holy night
all is calm, all is bright
round yon virgin mother and child.
Holy infant, so tender and mild,
sleep in heavenly peace.
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Blessing of the Baby Jesus Crèche Figurines
Celebrant The word was made flesh and dwelt among us:
People And we beheld his glory.
Celebrant The Lord be with you.
People And also with you.
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, to deliver us from the power of sin and death, you sent your only Son to be born a child and laid in a manger: Bless our use of these baby Jesus figures, and let those who gaze upon them be reminded that they are set free by your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
