The "Senior Moments" group which includes members of St Paul's who are 60 + years young are planning a field trip Thursday, September 12, 2019, to the Lakefront Airport ( formerly Shushan Airport) located at 6001 Stars and Stripes Blvd (near Downman Road). It is one of Louisiana's finest examples of Art Deco architecture. it was constructed by the Orleans Levee Board in 1928 under Gov. Huey Long. We will view the eight famous hand-painted canvass murals by Xavier Gonzales a Spanish artist, who painted them on the walls of the airport in the 1930s. Until recently, they have been covered up by plywood panels. Fortunately, they are restored to their original beauty. We will meet at St. Paul's Church on Thursday, 2019 at 10:45 AM. or you can meet us there at 11:00 AM. There is an elevator to the second-floor atrium. Afterwards, we will have lunch at the Runway Cafe at Noon. Please email Pat Mitchell at for reservations by September 2. if you plan to stay for lunch. For those seniors who wish not to join us at the airport, the regular meeting of "Senior Moments" will still take place at 1:30 pm in the conference room. This field trip is open to any parishioners who want to join us.
